Part Time Remote Jobs: Openings Sorted by Schedule, With Real Pay and Hours
Educational information, not financial, tax or legal advice. Pay figures are published medians and employer postings, not a promise of what you will earn. Read our disclaimer.
Picture 15 to 20 free hours a week, made of a few weekday mornings, a couple of evenings and part of Saturday, and part time remote jobs that fit those hours, pay a real wage and never ask you to buy a starter kit. That combination exists, but it is narrower than the ads make it look. Much of today's part-time remote work goes to tutors, teachers and licensed clinicians, while beginner-friendly shifts come with hour minimums and equipment rules. This guide sorts the openings by when you can work and by who is hiring. It uses our own daily count of listings and each employer's published terms.
What part-time remote work looks like on job boards this week
The direct answer: part-time remote work is real and it is hiring, but most of it is skilled work sold by the hour, not easy filler shifts. Tutoring platforms, universities and telehealth companies posted far more of it than call centers did.
On October 13, 2026, our count of US-eligible part-time listings posted in the previous 30 days found 232 openings, 230 of them open only to people living in the US. Of those, 213 were labelled part-time, 11 were actually Full Time roles that came up in part-time searches, and 6 were contracts. Only 51 listings stated pay in US dollars, and 36 of those stated an hourly rate.
Where an hourly rate was posted, the median ran from $30 at the low end to $37 at the high end. That number is higher than most people expect, and the reason is who was hiring. The biggest posters were:
- FindTutors (25 listings), an online tutoring marketplace
- Marketplace Ministries, Inc. (14), which posts part-time chaplain roles
- Embry-Riddle (13), DeVry University (12) and National University (4), all universities; the DeVry listings on our board were online teaching roles
- Charlie Health (7), a telehealth mental health provider posting group facilitator, care coach and admin roles
Tutoring platforms and universities dominated the board, and their roles pay well per hour because they want subject expertise or a clinical license. By seniority tag, 130 listings were mid-level and 75 entry-level.

Part time work from home jobs sorted by the hours you actually have
Here is what employers publish about schedules, grouped by when you are free. Every detail comes from the employer's own posting or FAQ, read in October 2026.
Weekday mornings and school hours
- Insurance and health-plan review work. Most of it is full-time, but a few clinical roles are part-time. The Cigna Group posted an RN Health Coach role at 30 hours a week, Texas only, asking for 3+ years of RN experience.
- Contact center shifts. TTEC's work-from-home FAQ says its at-home staff are part-time employees expected to work at least 20 hours a week, with paid, mandatory training online and by phone. A TTEC customer service posting lists a base wage "starting at $13.00 to $16.35".
- Online tutoring. Tutoring platforms led our part-time count. Sessions are booked around students, so ask any platform how it assigns time slots before you sign up.
Evenings after work
- Online teaching. DeVry University's part-time "Online Visiting Professor" listings appeared repeatedly on our board, a few showing $22–$23.50 an hour. These are subject-expert roles: a school hiring someone to teach healthcare statistics or inpatient coding wants someone who already works in that field.
- Hospice and triage nursing. One IntellaTriage listing on our board read "Remote Hospice Triage RN PT 3:30p-9p + rotating Sat & Sun". Evening telephone triage is a classic part-time role, but it needs an RN license. See our guide to remote nursing jobs.
- Evening customer support. Some health insurers note that their review departments run 24/7. CVS Health's utilization management posting, for example, says schedules include holidays and evening hours.
Weekends
- Phone agents with weekend minimums. U-Haul's part-time remote "e-Live Verification Phone Agent" posting requires at least 25 hours a week including weekends and holidays, starting at $16 an hour and rising to $19 within 6–9 months, according to the posting dated Oct 12, 2026.
- Weekend clinical coverage. Listings such as "Part-Time Weekend Alert LPN" (Cadence) appeared on our board on October 13 for licensed nurses.
Any hour you like: task-based and per-minute work
This is the only truly flexible category. You log in when you want, but pay is per task or per minute rather than per hour on the clock.
- Rev: no minimum commitment; transcriptionist pay of $0.40–$1.10 per audio or video minute, paid weekly via PayPal, per its freelancer page. It currently has a waitlist.
- TranscribeMe: short 2–4 minute clips; pay starts at $15–$22 per audio hour, and the company itself says average monthly earnings are $250.
- Prolific: paid research studies; researchers must pay at least $8 an hour and are advised to pay $12, according to its participant help center.
- Working Solutions: contract customer care paid $0.25–$0.31 per productive minute, with idle time and breaks unpaid, per its FAQ.
Treat these as a top-up, not a salary: you are paid for minutes worked, not minutes waiting for work.
Five kinds of employers behind remote part time jobs
Knowing who hires part-timers tells you which skills to lead with.
- Tutoring marketplaces. FindTutors posted 25 part-time listings in our October 13 count, including a chemistry tutor role. The BLS May 2025 median for tutors is $20.84 an hour ($43,350 a year).
- Universities and online schools. Embry-Riddle, DeVry, National University and the University of Miami posted part-time listings, including online teaching and course-development roles. Check the degree or professional credential each posting asks for before you apply.
- Telehealth and health plans. Charlie Health posted part-time roles including a Clinical Administrator and a Care Coach, each listed at $20 an hour, and group facilitator roles whose titles ask for a master's degree or a state credential. Navitus Health Solutions posted a part-time pharmacist role at $48.72–$60.90 an hour.
- Contact centers. TTEC, U-Haul and LifeMD (a Customer Service Representative – Part-Time listing at $22.50 an hour) hire part-time phone and chat agents. More in our guide to customer service remote jobs.
- AI data and language companies. RWS Group posted part-time AI data annotator roles for Japanese and Korean speakers in the US at $21.50 an hour. Mindrift listed part-time physician AI-review roles at $130 an hour. For the beginner end of this work, see data entry remote jobs.
Companies that take beginners
If you have no degree or license to lead with, the realistic part-time options are contact centers and task platforms. The directory below lists companies whose own pages say they accept applicants without prior experience. Each links to its careers page, and the details were checked on October 13, 2026.

Independent contractor (1099)Transcriber · Editor
- Experience:
- No prior experience is required (per its jobs page).
- Pay:
- GoTranscript's jobs page (read Oct 2026) says transcribers earn up to $1.75 per audio/video minute (minute of file length, not working time), varying by language, audio length, difficulty, turnaround and quality; payouts are weekly via PayPal or Payoneer depending on region.

Hours, benefits and pay: what you trade away by working part-time
Part-time remote work buys control over your week and often costs benefits and predictability.
There is no legal definition of "part-time"
The US Department of Labor says plainly that the Fair Labor Standards Act does not define full-time or part-time employment. Each employer decides what "part-time" means. So one posting means 20 hours, another 30.
The 30-hour line for health coverage
The one federal number that matters is in the Affordable Care Act. For the employer shared responsibility rules, the IRS defines a full-time employee as someone employed on average at least 30 hours of service per week, or 130 hours of service per month. Those rules apply to applicable large employers. Below 30 hours, coverage is the employer's choice.
What the postings we read actually offer
| Employer and role | Hours stated | Pay stated | Other terms |
|---|---|---|---|
| TTEC at-home customer service | At least 20 a week | "Starting at $13.00 to $16.35" | Paid, mandatory training |
| U-Haul e-Live Verification Phone Agent | At least 25 a week, incl. weekends and holidays | $16/hour, rising to $19 in 6–9 months | You supply the Windows PC, webcam and headset |
| Cigna RN Health Coach (Texas) | 30 a week | Not shown | 3+ years RN experience |
| Working Solutions (contract) | You choose | $0.25–$0.31 per productive minute | Idle time and breaks unpaid |
| Rev (contract) | No minimum | $0.40–$1.10 per audio minute | Waitlist in October 2026 |
Questions to ask before you accept
- Is the minimum weekly hours requirement fixed? A 25-hour minimum including weekends is not the same as "flexible".
- Is training paid? TTEC, Conduent and Foundever say theirs is. Liveops says client certification is unpaid.
- Who supplies the equipment? Conduent and Transcom ship computers to new hires. U-Haul supplies none.
Employee or contractor? Check before you say yes
Many part-time remote roles are independent contractor (1099) arrangements rather than jobs. The difference decides your taxes, your protections and whether anyone pays you for training.
How the IRS draws the line
The IRS says there is no single test; all information that provides evidence of the degree of control and independence must be considered. It groups the evidence into three questions:
- Behavioral control. Does the company control, or have the right to control, what you do and how you do it?
- Financial control. Does the payer control the business side of the work: equipment, expenses, how you are paid?
- Type of relationship. Are there written contracts or employee-type benefits, and is the work a key part of the business?
What being a contractor costs you
As a contractor you pay both halves of Social Security and Medicare yourself. The IRS states that the self-employment tax rate is 15.3%, made up of 12.4% for Social Security and 2.9% for Medicare, and that you must file Schedule SE once your net self-employment earnings reach $400.
Among the companies in our directory:
- Employees (W-2): TTEC, U-Haul, Conduent, Transcom, Foundever and Concentrix hire remote reps as employees.
- Contractors (1099): Rev, TranscribeMe, Working Solutions, Liveops, DataAnnotation, Outlier and Clickworker treat workers as contractors. Rev's Services Agreement says it withholds no taxes.
Contract work can suit you well, since nearly all the flexible-hours work above is contract work. Just price the 15.3% in before you compare offers. A $16 W-2 hour and a $16 1099 hour are not the same money.
How to stack two part-time remote gigs without the wheels coming off
Plenty of people build a full week from two part-time roles: one steady shift plus one flexible platform. It works if you plan the boring details first.
- Pick one anchor and one filler. Make the anchor a W-2 role with set hours, such as a 20-hour contact center schedule. Make the filler something you can pause, such as transcription.
- Map the minimums before you accept the second role. If the anchor needs weekends (as U-Haul's posting does) and the second gig needs a fixed weekday shift, write both on one calendar before you say yes.
- Never work one job on the other's clock. Conduent's posting asks for a distraction-free workspace with no one else present during work hours, and doing task work during a paid shift breaks the deal you made with both employers.
- Read the offer for outside-work rules. Some employers have conflict-of-interest or outside-employment policies. If the offer letter mentions one, ask HR what it covers before you start a second role.
- Fix your withholding. When you add paid work, the IRS suggests rechecking your withholding. Its Tax Withholding Estimator lists "new job or other paid work" as a reason to check, and it can generate a pre-filled Form W-4 for your employer.
- Set aside money for the contractor side. Put a fixed share of every 1099 payment into a separate account so the self-employment tax isn't a surprise in April.

How fake part time remote jobs give themselves away
"A few hours a week, great pay" is exactly what scammers sell. The FTC's warning signs match the fake listings we screen out.
- Big pay, vague job. The FTC says fake recruiters mention pay, sometimes daily or weekly, but give no details about the actual job. Our feed drops titles built around "earn $X a day".
- A text you never asked for. The FTC says real employers will never contact you by generic, unexpected text, WhatsApp or Telegram messages, and not to reply "YES" however professional it looks.
- Pay to start. The FTC says honest employers will never ask you to pay to get a job. Liveops, a legitimate contract platform, does charge a $25 background-check fee through its screener. Know that before you apply, and never pay a stranger who promises a role.
- Deposit to unlock earnings. Apps that make you deposit money, often crypto, to withdraw "earnings" are task scams. The FTC estimates about 20,000 people reported them in the first half of 2024, versus about 5,000 in all of 2023.
Our feed also excludes home-based travel-agent "vacation booker" programs, which turn up in part-time searches, and commission-only insurance-agent recruiting. Both commonly charge new recruits for licensing, leads or a host-agency membership. You can read how we screen jobs on our editorial policy page.
Before applying, find the same role on the company's own careers page; the FBI flags postings that appear on job boards but not on the company's site.
